a flight machine is approaching. at high speed, standing still. 747 is a series of projects i've been developing since early 2001 around the notions of abstract flight in space. whatever that means.
747.5 é uma simulação em tempo-real do vôo livre a partir do corpo dos utilizadores; uma experiência áudio-visual onde várias pessoas cruzam os céus abstractos estratosféricos num espaço virtual comum. Várias estações interactivas em rede, a partir de reconhecimento de imagem no computador, submergem os participantes num espaço contínuo, onde se pode navegar em qualquer direcção. Esta peça, a quinta da série 747, procura fragmentar a continuidade, espacializá-la e torná-la partilhável, dotar os utilizadores de asas, fazê-los voar.

has been quite an intense 3 week period (3-23may2010). first week, terrain recognition, virtual and actual, network prototyping, first successful tests, prototypes, prototypes.

second week, space mayhem. sound engine. 3d engine breakdown. sound compositing. space assemblage, gear and more gear.
third week, map application, video tracking fine tuning, narrative dissemination and 3d engine breakdown. computer netwerks, more networks, still lots to be done!...
747.5 is a real time simulation of free flight from the users bodies; an audiovisual experience where several persons cross abstract stratospheric skies in a shared virtual space. several networked interactive stations, from image recognition on the computer, submerge the participants in a continuous space, where it's possible to navigate in any direction. this piece, the 5th of the 747 series, seeks to fragment continuity, spatialize it and make it sharable, offer its participants wings, make them fly.
