since mid-april been working on kaspar's machine, the audiovisual system that will hold João Garcia Miguel's theatre performance adaptaption of Kaspar by Peter Handke, which will be titled "O Filho da Europa" / "Europe's Son", and will premiere early june in Porto at TeCa.
working closely with Rui Gato, whom will drive realtime the piece events, compose the audio and visual contents, playing and interacting with the av system i've been building. it's been quite intense, and working really well already. i devised a modular system for the image and the audio part that can take many forms and be settable to precise combinations in the piece's sections. the image will project video in the faces of a cube, and track the insides to make interactive sections from Kaspar's motion and sounds. the audio is an 8 channel setup, with 4 speakers on the cube corners, and other 4 on the outter periphery. the images are 4 video projections into the surface of the cube.
since Rui plays with a lovely lemur and live, he'll be able to, as he plays with the sounds, touch the lemur and trigger all the image changes, spatialization, the different states of interaction during the play, and modulate some filters effects. we've managed to insert a full 8 channel audio-spat system inside live. kaspar's machine looking good and ready! looking forward to see what gets cooked into it!
